SO, YOU WANT TO BE A
DINING SERVER
Dining Server
About the Role
We’re looking for a part-time or full-time server who cares about hospitality, knows how to read a room, and takes real pride in serving seafood properly. This role is about more than carrying plates. It requires strong menu knowledge, polished service standards, and the ability to guide guests with confidence and warmth.
Our servers help shape the guest experience from start to finish. That means knowing the menu, understanding the market, anticipating needs, and making people feel well taken care of without making it feel rehearsed.
What You’ll Do
- Deliver Shoreline’s polished, professional service standards with consistency
- Build strong knowledge of our lunch and dinner menus, wine and beverage offerings, special events, and market products
- Greet guests warmly and guide them through the menu with informed, confident recommendations
- Speak knowledgeably about products, preparation methods, substitutions, and common allergen concerns
- Get to know our regulars and help make Shoreline feel familiar in the right way
- Engage market guests about joining our loyalty program when appropriate
- Maintain and organize service wares, glasses, plates, flatware, napkins, and condiments
- Keep dining areas, chairs, counters, outdoor seating, and restrooms clean, sanitized, and organized
- Restock and maintain chilled beverages and ice bins
- Attend and participate in daily line-up tastings and ongoing menu education
- Pre-bus tables before presenting checks—empty plates, silverware, and glassware should not be lingering
- Follow station checklists for opening, transitions, and closing procedures
- Work collaboratively as a Shoreline team member, not just within your section
What Matters Here
- Hospitality that feels natural, not scripted
- Strong menu knowledge and a willingness to keep learning
- Attention to detail—small service misses add up quickly
- Cleanliness, organization, and follow-through
- The ability to stay composed and helpful when the room gets busy
This role matters because good service shapes how guests remember us. We want people to leave feeling like they were taken care of by someone who knows the food, knows the room, and knows how to make a meal run smoothly.
